Bella's Op

My lovely cat Bella had a little op earlier this week - they needed to take a sample for a biopsy, but thankfully, all was fine. What wasn't though was the buster collar she needed to wear to stop her worrying at the wound.

Poor thing, she really suffered..... Suddenly she couldn't hear, see or smell properly and was walking around like an old lady. She became very quiet and subdued - not like Bella at all - and was clearly very depressed. The worst thing though, was that she couldn't clean herself, and somehow this stopped her from using her litter tray. Makes sense, as if she knew she couldn't be clean, how could she possibly go?

However, when I came down yesterday morning, something had very obviously happened - I won't say too much, in case you're eating, but I think you can guess..... And was also rather sick. She was so distressed because she couldn't clean herself, so what else could I do? I removed the collar, cleaned it, then threw it away. Bella then settled down to make herself all sweet and lovely again, but it had really taken it's toll on her, so spent most of the rest of the day sleeping.

She's been back to her normal self today, and hasn't bothered about the wound at all (well, not much anyway). And I don't think will ever want to see a buster collar again!!

Anyway, if you've had any experiences of buster collars with your pets, please let us all know.
